First of our monthly comps for 2010

Tomorrow night is the first of our monthly comps for 2010 and don’t forget that the competition nights are now held in the Craft Room at the Mt Waverley Community Centre. It’s a hop, skip and a jump from Wadham House on the corner of Miller Cres and Stephensons Road.

Please don’t park in the Wadham House car park as you would normally do as we are not renting Wadham House on the night. There is plenty of parking at the community centre.

This will be the deadline for the March comp so bring along your prints on the night. Digital copies of the prints and the EDI entries must be bought along on disk or emailed by this date also.

Also stay tuned for more information about the outing to Cranbourne Botanical Gardens on Sunday the 7th of Feb.

First workshop of 2010

Tonight at WCC we are having our first workshop for the year and it is to do with software.

Rather than have one person up the front and the rest all sat down looking at the screen we will try something different. It has been proven that the method used in the past doesn’t work for several reasons.

So what we will try is this:

I would like everyone who is able to bring their laptop (or PC’s if you prefer) with them tonight. We can then split up into much smaller groups and therefore (in theory) be able to cater for all levels of expertise. All the people who are familiar with Photoshop/Lightroom/Elements and so on will be able to demonstrate what they know and all those for whom digital editing is still a bit of a mystery will be able to ask questions specific to them.

This will only work if everyone participates.

We also have the monitor calibration tool which is available to anyone who wants to use it.

See you all tonight,
Pete

Sunday outings this weekend

Hi Folks,

You missed a great night if you weren’t there last night. As discussed last night there will be 2 outings this Sunday.

The first will be Williamstown as scheduled. We will meet at 5:20am. Yes that’s 20 minutes past five in the morning. We will meet at the top green dot on the map attached. on the Strand opposite Ferguson St. I think we might end up at the lower green dot but we will meet at the top one.

Williamstown

The second outing is at 9am. It is at Monash Gallery of Art and I hope you will all be there to take part in their annual Masterpiece in a Day competition. Entry is $5 and the prizes are worth winning. Shooting begins at 9 and finishes at 1:40pm. Presentation will be at 3. Check out the MGA website for more details.

See you while it’s still dark on Sunday morning.

End of year competition 2009

G’day Folks,

It’s almost end of year comp time again. This year things are slightly different:

  • You can enter up to 3 COLOUR prints in the Colour Prints section.
  • You can enter up to 3 MONOCHROME prints in the Mono Prints section.
  • You can enter up to 3 EDI in the EDI section.
  • EDI’s can be either colour or mono – they all compete against each other.

All of the entries MUST have been entered into one of the WCC 2009 monthly competitions. All of the entries MUST be entered into the same section in which they were originally entered. For eg: you quite like your EDI entry from the April comp – it must be entered as an EDI, you cannot print it and enter it as a print.

All prints must be in with Albert by this Tuesday (Cup Day). All EDI’s must be submitted by Thursday the 5th of November. To submit an EDI you can either tell comp@waverleycameraclub.org the name of the entry and the month it was entered or send it again and use 12 for the month in the file name.

The President’s Trophy is a bit of fun that we have every year. You can enter up to 4 EDI’s to the President’s Trophy online Gallery anytime until the 30th of November. The subject for this year’s comp is “One Amongst Many”.

Simply email your entries to comp@waverleycameraclub.org and make sure that you point out they are for the President’s Trophy.

Cheers,
Pete
