We are going to the Tyabb Airshow 20224 for our March outing. During this outing, you can see and capture an incredible array of unique and historic aircraft in action.

Date:	Sunday 10th March 2024 (the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend)
Time:	8:30 am to 4:00 pm (or whenever you want to leave)
Meeting Point:	Inside the ticket check point (8:25am), Sturt Rd, Tyabb
How to get there:	By Car: 43-60 minutes (52kms) from Mt Waverly Community Centre, or longer depending on the traffic. (Suggest going early to avoid the traffic jam! Carpool is recommended)
What to bring:	A pre-purchased ticket. (you need to buy ticket beforehand as the event is popular and tickets may not be available at the gate!) Water, snacks and lunch. (to avoid the long queue) Camera gear: Your camera, 60-200mm range is useful for static ground displays & close fly-bys, while 400+mm is ideal for general aerial photography, a folding chair can be useful. (monopod or tripod is optional!)

Additional information:

1. The distance between the car park and the air show can be significant according to my experience, so try not to carry too much as you might need to take a short ride on shuttle bus, which is quite frequent.
2. You can buy drink and food there but expect long queues.

We are going to Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne (RBGC) for our February outing. During this outing, we can capture plants, flowers, birds, and other things, in preparation for our May and Sept set subjects.

How to get there:	By Car: Around 37 minutes from Mount Waverley, there is plenty of parking at RBGC. By train: There are free shuttle bus from Cranbourne train station, but you will need to make a booking via RBGC.
What to bring:	1. Insect repellent, sunscreen, some water and snack. 2.Camera gear-Your camera, macro lens for plants and flowers/bugs, 24-105 for landscape, and a zoom lens for birds and animals.

Just further down the track, I would like to recommend a wonderful photography exhibition Steve McCurry ICONS which is coming to Melbourne from Feb 28 to April.

For our next outing we are going to Lillydale Lake for a Sunset and Light Painting session. The committee has kindly agreed to invite a Light Painting specialist Brad Garton and his assistants to teach us how to do light painting. This session is for everyone as you don’t need to be an advanced photographer to create magic!

Meeting Point:	The boat ramp at Lillydale Lake, near the toilet block and the green rotunda. (100 meters from the car park if you enter from C401 Swansea Road)
How to get there:	By Car: Around 45 minutes from Mt Waverly Station, 7 minutes from Lilydale station. (Carpooling is recommended). There are plenty of parking next to the meeting point.

What to bring:

1. A warm jacket (just in case it is cold around the lake) and some water.
2. Your camera
3. A wide-angle lens such as 16-35, 24-70 or 24-105 and a zoom lens (optional) if you want to get a close-up shot
4. A good tripod is essential for light painting (the club has three available for loan, just put in a request if you need to borrow one)
5. filters for sunset if you have them
6. spare batteries
7. a head torch if you have one

For the September outing, we are going to the 10th Ballarat International Foto Biennale.

This year’s festival features more than 2000 works by some of the world’s biggest photography names. Headline exhibitions include:

• The global premiere of People Power – Platon and other works from this iconic portrait photographer
• Instant Warhol – original Polaroids taken by pop culture icon Andy Warhol
• The surreal landscapes of Swedish artist Erik Johansson
• Laneway installations including Indian street photographer Vineet Vohra and Australian Trent Parke

For our August outing, we are going to capture sunset around Webb Bridge. If you are keen, you can stay for night exposure as there are so many beautiful spots for reflections nearby.

How to get there:	Public transport (train and then walk or tram) or car (there are plenty of parking garage with weekend rates)

For our April outing, we are going to capture the exciting event at Lang Lang Rodeo.

For the March outing, we are going to capture the various events of Moomba such as the parade, waterskiing, rides and fireworks.

It is recommended to take public transport as this is a public holiday, parking is quite challenging. If you come early, you might find free parking near Yarra River, close to Gate A and H of Botanic Gardens, otherwise, some paid parking near Flinders Station or Feb Square.

Food and drinks:	You can bring your own lunch or buy lunch from Cafe Vireya, or nearby Cloudehill Gardens. Make sure you wear comfy shoes and warm clothes.
