4-Club Interclub Competition – Wed 15th April 2015

Ever wondered what other photography clubs are like, ever wondered what other clubs take pictures of? If the answer is yes then why not come along to the 4-Club Competition. Previously bi-annual and now on an annual basis, WCC enters into the 4-Club competition along with three other local clubs, Berwick, Eastern Suburbs and Maroondah. In the past we’ve done really well in these competitions and there is no reason to suspect that we won’t do well here again. We have images from Jason, Lenore, Vicki, Andy, Richard, Cookie, Stuart, Marie, Hai, Anthony, Dianne and myself.

Why not come along and see how they fair and enjoy supper with other camera club members. It is a great insight into how other clubs run and what they shoot.

Annual BBQ – Cancelled Due to Weather

It is with regret that due to the inclement weather, we have decided to call off tonight’s BBQ. However, we still have to collect the prints for the February Competition so Paul Spence and I will be at the Valley Reserve Car Park from 6pm in case anyone would like to drop off their prints. I will also have the exhibition prints with me so you collect those as well.

If you can’t make it tonight, you can drop your prints at either the Monash Council Civic Centre between 9am – 5pm at the main reception area or at my house, please call or text me on 0409 187 087 for the address. Please note, if you drop prints at the Civic Centre you must state to the reception staff that the prints are my attention. Alternatively, call my mobile and I will come down and get them from you.

Thanks and see you at the comp night

Painting With Pixels – Opening 30th Nov 2014

The Club’s Painting With Pixels exhibition opening went extremely well with well over 40 people attending the event. The MGA staff had done an exceptional job in hanging the images along with providing drinks and refreshment for the opening. The president welcomed everyone to the opening with a short speech and lots of networking and interaction between members ensued. I listened to the comments and reactions of people around the room and the exhibition seemed to be very well received.

One apology I have to make is to Crag Francisco whose image descriptions in the accompanying documentation were switched around however, once realised, this was quickly rectified for us by MGA staff.

Also I would like to extend a warm welcome to Isabella and Lily, two Korean ladies who came to the opening and seemed to really enjoy the images in the gallery. Isabella doesn’t speak English very well (her words) but we managed to communicate and she has expressed that she would be interested in joining the club. I will invite her to come along to the BBQ in January and hopefully she will join us in the New Year.

The WCC Committee would like to thank all members who attended the gallery opening and to those who couldn’t attend for loaning their images for the exhibition. We would also like to thank MGA, especially to Stephen and Mark for their kind offer to host our exhibition and for their help in setting up and coordinating the event.
